TGFFT....

Thank goodness for free tea..... I'm seriously crashing here at work today, and I don't like tea enough to pay for it, but if it's free....then sure, I'll go for it. The only kind I sort of, maybe like is the white tea that has blueberry or cranberry or something.....it's tolerable. But we're out of it apparently, so this will have to do. And all of the other flavors that sound good are caffeine free, seriously, what's the point??

I think I made up my mind for tonight. I think I'm going to hit the treadmill at the gym. I thik I'll feel better if I actually run, instead of sitting on my butt and listening to someone talk about running. Plus, I need to break in my new black race collection Skirt!

Decisions, decisions....

So I've got a tough decision to make for tonight.....
1. Be good and go to the gym for some running and lifting....

or

2. Head to Runner's High to listen to Bart Yasso speak.....

I wish the timing worked out so I could do both, but because of work there isn't enough time to go to the gym beforehand....and I really don't think I'll feel like heading to the gym around 9 when it's over....decisions, decisions....

Lead legs....

In case you were wondering what your legs would feel like during a tough "sprint speed" computrainer class after 2 weeks of traveling, being sick, and no time on the bike. Let me give you a visual image to help you understand....

It was definitely a tough class last night. Coach Tom pushed us to our limits. Unfortunately my limit was a little lower than usual because of the time off and very recently recovering from the flu, but I still made it through. When we started I wasn't sure I would make it through the 90 minutes, but I dropped the FTP down a few watts and powered through it.

I'm still feeling it in the legs this morning....good thing tonight is yoga night! :)

SkirtChaser!!

Blah blah blah....I'm a terrible blog owner....blah blah blah. Yes. we've all heard it before. But I have been a crazy busy person with travel and work lately, so that's my extremely acceptable excuse. Plus I was also sick for the last week and if I had written a blog post then it would have mostly been about how miserable I was feeling, and I doubt you wanted to hear that.

I had an absolutely fantastic time out in Arizona for the SkirtChaser race. Most people don't understand why I planned a vacation around working at a race, but it was tons of fun. Even though I was "working" from 9am-7pm on Friday and noon to about 8 on Saturday, there wasn't a single moment where I felt I was working. It was all just fun. Even packet pick-up! Between Casey, Paul, Beth, Sage, Mary and myself there wasn't a single dull moment! :) Race day turned out to be beautiful, there was a forecast of rain, but it stayed away so we had a gorgeous, sunny day. I even convinced my mom to get out there for the race. I dressed her up in full Skirt fashion and she was defintely a big hit! All in all, it was a fantastic weekend, tons of fun, great new friends (I apparently have a long lost sister/sista!), and did I mention tons of fun?? And the best part is that they asked me to be the Volunteer Coordinator for the Chicago race. I'm going to have a real job at the race, and I may even get paid for it! I would probably be happy if they just paid me with some extra SkirtSports merchandise though!

As for now, I'm trying to get back into normal life. The last 3 weeks sort of flew by with all of the travel, so now I feel like I am completely behind on everything. So I have a few days of really exciting stuff like laundry and cleaning ahead of me. I also somehow need to figure out what I am going to wear to a ball this weekend. I tried shopping for a dress this past weekend and it was a failure. I'm still not quite what I'm going to wear. I have a dress that could maybe, possibly work, but I would just need some new shoes to go with it. It's so not fair that the hardest decision the guy has to make is what shirt and tie to wear..... Here's hoping that I don't end up at the ball in flip-flops!

Oh yes, and even though I only managed to make it through half of the Oscars last night, I would like to go ahead and say that the best moment of the night was the guy that thew "Domo arigato, Mr. Roboto" into his speech! :)

And with that....good night, it's sleep time.

First post removal

So for the first time in my blogging history, I deleted a post I put up. I posted a rant last night, maybe some of you checked the blog in time to read it, but I'm assuming most of you didn't. Which is probably good. I had a lot of thoughts swirling through my head last night, and since I couldn't talk to the person I should have been talking to about it, I put the thoughts up here, for all to read. Probably shouldn't have done that, but I did, and that's why they invented the "delete post" button. So now it's gone. And we're going to pretend that it didn't happen.

Thank you.

So tired...

Back to blogging after a super long weekend of work and not enough sleep. I flew out Thursday and Thursday and Friday were busy, but not terrible. Saturday is when the fun really started. I woke up far too early to get to the branch by 4:45am to help supervise the move. I hung out in the 55 degree warehouse until 5pm that night. By the time I got back to the hotel I was too exhausted to even think about doing anything. So after a shower and some quick dinner from the little store in the lobby I was asleep at 7:30pm. Yes that's right. 7:30. I'm that awesome. So you would think that by going to bed that early I could get a really great long night of sleep. Nope. I woke up at 3am the next day so that I could get to the airport to try and go standby on a 6am flight which my friend from United had told me had plenty of open seats. Unfortunately no such luck, I got to the airport to find that the flight was oversold. Ugg.... So I hung out until the next flight which wasn't until 8:50am, but I got on! I was very happy that I wasn't going to have to hang out until my scheduled 1:50 flight.

A smart person would have gone to bed early last night to try and catch up on missed sleep, but no, not me. I decided to stay up and watch the Grammys. I kept telling myself I would go to sleep after Robert Plant/Alison Krauss, but the silly Grammy producers put them all the way at the end of the show so I had to stay up and watch the whole thing. I was glad to see that they won a couple of awards though!

Ok, my brain is not functioning enough to think of anything else to write about. (Yes. I am amazingly productive at work today) But I would like to remind you all of the assignment I gave you last week. So far you all fail. You don't want to be a failure do you??? Suggest some songs!!

Your assignment, if you choose to accept (and you will...)

3 blog posts in 1 day?? That's just madness! I'm just stocking up now though, because starting tomorrow it will be all work all the time until Sunday...

So anyway, I need help from you. All of you have been way too quiet lately, so you have an assignment. I need help picking some songs for a little project I'm working on. I need recent songs that make you want to get up and dance. Think ridiculous.....like Metro Station "Shake It", Kevin Rudolf "Let It Rock", Katy Perry, The Ting Tings, etc... So let me know what's currently making you want to dance around like a fool! Come on, you know it's fun! Stop pretending to be so serious.

Not quite....

I'm heading out to California for work tomorrow and I was hoping to escape the cold and at least get some brief moments of warmth and sunshine between all of the work. But then I checked the weather....this is not quite what I had in mind. :(

Smurf legs!!

Yep, I have blue legs. Well at least the calf portion is blue..... They're all nice and snug in my blue Zensah compression leg sleeves (I couldn't just get boring white or black ones). :) I have to admit, I'm now a believer of compression. I was very skeptical when I first heard of this, how could wearing tight stuff magically make your muscles feel better? But when I started having cramping issues in my calves during computrainer classes, I went in search of new ways to stretch the muscle or roll it out, or something. Mark over at the local Runner's High n' Tri (I have proven that you don't need to be a runner or a triathlete to shop there) suggested the compression though. He said it would be the best option. At first I didn't believe him, but after another night of suffering I decided to give it a shot. And wow! He was right.

Now, you will never see me wearing these with bike shorts on the bike, or while out for a run, because well, they look pretty funny. But in the privacy of my own home, or concealed under my pants at work, I'm definitely rocking them whenever I can. :) Plus they have an added benefit! When it's 2 degrees outside and I'm walking into work, they help keep my calves just a little warmer. I definitely think they are going to be very helpful in the upcoming weeks as well with all of the treadmill time (hotel gyms are so boring) and lots of airplane time (ugg...I'm getting stiff just thinking about it).

So here's to those who are secretly rocking some compression leg sleeves!

Ready, Set, Travel!

Unfortunately it's not fun travel, but mostly work travel, with one fun trip thrown in the middle. Here's a rundown of the schedule:
Feb. 5-8: California for work (yes, I will be working over the weekend)
Feb. 12-15: Arizona for the SkirtChaser Race....this trip will definitely be fun!
Feb. 17-19: North Carolina for work

I'm just looking forward to getting through the next few weeks. The work stuff is going to be challenging, and I have to admit, I'm slightly nervous about pulling some of it off. The Arizona trip was the first one planned, and now I feel that it is coming at the worst possible time. But it will be a nice break, and I am very excited to hang out with the Skirt crew again! :)

So don't worry, I should be able to provide some updates during extra time spent in the airport. But, I will warn you, visions of slotting, pick modules, location classes, master strategies, aka work stuff will be filling my head, so I'm not sure how much room I will have for fun exciting stuff. But I will certainly try to find some way to entertain my loyal readers.
